Testimonials

I’ve worked with David for almost thirty years and have enjoyed every one of the dozens of projects that we have worked on. He was introduced to me as ‘Dovetail Dave’ due to his meticulous craftsmanship & his attention to detail and he has certainly lived up to this accolade throughout. Bringing old school furniture-making principles into the 21st century with a well equipped workshop and a can-do attitude, he was able to design, detail and build a great variety of projects, seeing them through from inception to completion. This expertise, coupled with his polite, hard working and jovial personality makes David a rare gem in the world of construction!

I have known and loved Dave for over 25 years now. Whatever I need, be it a small vanity unit, a kitchen or a full blown library – his is the number I reach for – there is nothing he cannot do! Great designs, good prices, prompt communications – Dave takes enormous pride in his work and it shows!

I first asked David to make a table, and instead of just explaining the idea, he actually made a small miniature version for me. That immediately showed me the level of care and attention he puts into his work – I was genuinely impressed. Since then, he’s made several wooden units for our shop, and every single time he’s exceeded expectations. He really listens, understands what you’re trying to achieve, and then somehow delivers something even better. The quality of his work is excellent – everything feels solid, well thought out, and beautifully finished. But more than that, he’s just very easy to work with. Reliable, honest, and clearly takes pride in what he does. It’s rare to find someone like that. I’m really glad we found David and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him.

David has produced several bespoke pieces of furniture for us. He has an exceptional eye for detail and his work is of great quality.

David has completed three projects for us – a fitted bookcase, a fitted audio unit/LP storage, and new under-island kitchen cupboards. Given the nature of our house, none of these was a straight forward task. On each occasion David visited, discussed the project with us, and made helpful suggestions/improvements, before going away to draw up plans. The results have transformed all three rooms. David is an excellent person to work with. Not only is he friendly and professional, but he also sticks to his estimates and timescales for the work. What more could you ask for?

We recently reached the point in life where we needed to move to a much smaller property. This had to undergo major refurbishment, part of which was a large built in unit along the whole side of the dining area with cupboards, glass fronted display cabinets, shelves etc. David designed, made and fitted this unit with great skill and precision. We admire and enjoy David’s work every day.

It was an excellent experience working with David to create a Welsh dresser and under stairs area in the centre of our open plan living space. Quite apart from the quality of the end product being superb and incredibly beautiful, the entire experience, from start to finish was a positive one. The process was efficient though he gave us all the time and space we needed for adjustments and changes. Communication was prompt, clear and kind. Creation and instillation was done ahead of time, attendance was reliable and punctual, where needed he stayed beyond the usual working hours to finish off a section and did not leave us in chaos. David and his crafts man were tidy, clean, considerate and thoroughly pleasant company during the whole project. We have more plans to work with him and can thoroughly recommend him.

David filled a difficult space under our stairs with a beautiful cupboard unit that was functionally perfect and aesthetically pleasing
